There are a lot of times when you may need to consider hiring an event organiser to help get everything sorted out. Event organisers are generally responsible for the whole of the event, from conception through to completion.

Depending on the size of the event they can range from freelance organisers to large scale businesses helping you to make sure everything goes to plan.

When hiring an event organiser it is important to clearly understand what needs to be done for the event and which of the tasks they are responsible for. Have a look at the page on event planning to get an idea of what needs to be done.

Hiring an Event Organiser vs doing it yourself

There are advantages and disadvantages to hiring an event organiser and they need to be considered to ensure you are planning your event in the right way.

Advantages

Time – One of the main reasons event organisers are hired is purely due to the amount of time and effort that goes into planning an event. An event organiser can help make sure everything runs smoothly and quickly, taking away the amount of time that would otherwise need to be invested.

Benefits / Discount – As organising events is their job, they will most likely have a lot of connections in the various industries, helping them to get various benefits or discounts that wouldn’t otherwise be available.

Peace of Mind – Planning an event can be a very stressful experience, and often the peace of mind that an event planner brings is invaluable, leaving you free to fully enjoy the event.

Professional – Depending on the guests and the reason for the event you may require a more professional edge. This is especially true when it come to things like product launches and promotional events. An event organiser can bring this professional edge and is also prepared fr any event, helping things to run a lot more smoothly.

Experience – These guys know what they are doing and it often shows through at the end result. Their experience will (most of the time) help to make sure things aren’t forgotten and that every aspect is covered.

Disadvantages

Cost – There aren’t too many disadvantages to hiring one of these guys, but this is the main one. If your event is a small one e.g. birthday, Christmas party then this probably isn’t in the budget. If, however, you are wanting to make more of an impact and have money to spend then get an event organiser to help you out. There will be loads to choose from, locally, nationally and worldwide so if you’re spending money make sure you are getting one who has worked on the kind of event you are planning.

Loss of personal input – The only other drawback is the potential loss of personal input from yourself into your event. If this is important to you it can be worked around so there is no real loss.

Once you have considered these factors you will have a better idea of whether an event organiser is right for you and your event.
