Entertainment
Almost all events will have some form of entertainment, whether it’s music or film or other forms such as fireworks.
If you have covered the main checks on the event planning page you will have checked your venue has a licence for the specific type of entertainment you want to put on.
There are so many forms of entertainment it wouldn’t be possible to list them all here but what we can do is go over a few basic factors that can generally be applied to all forms of entertainment.
Location
This isn’t the location of the event; it’s where in your venue the entertainment is going to be. Do they have a DJ booth or stage? If it’s fireworks or an air show is there a suitable and safe location available close to your venue?
Viewing
Fitting in with the point above, you may have your location for the entertainment to go, but is it convenient for your guests? Make sure that wherever it is it’s going to be enjoyable and easily accessible for everyone.
Seating
If you are putting on a performance of some sort you may require seating. Consider the two points above in terms of seating.
Insurance and risk assessments
Whatever you are planning to do make sure you have performed some sort of risk assessment beforehand and you are covered as for as insurance goes.
Cost
Don’t overlook the cost that all this will come to and how it will fit into your budget.
Equipment
If you are hiring a professional such as a DJ or live band then you will need to check what equipment they will require and if they will be providing it or you will need to provide it. This can sometimes be covered by the venue. If you are setting up a club night then most of the time the equipment will already be set up but you need to check beforehand.
